When to apply

General Considerations

• Start the spray program with a preventative, highly effective fungicide such as HEADLINE DUO at recommended label rate with maximum water volume.
• Only registered multi-mode of action fungicide products such as HEADLINE DUO should be applied to chickpeas, and limit the use of any one specific product or chemistry to two per season.
• Rotation of each fungicide application to ensure that there is no sequential application of any one specific product or chemistry.
• Consistent with the steps outlined above, BASF is recommending use of HEADLINE DUO (first and third applications) and BRAVO^® (second and fourth applications) in situations requiring up to four fungicide applications for treatment of Ascochyta in chickpeas.
• If additional treatments are required, growers should consult their retailer or BASF Business Representative.

Chickpeas – first application

• Apply at the 7-10 node stage, or at the onset of symptoms (if symptoms appear prior to the 7-10 node stage) for more aggressive diseases such as Ascochyta blight in chickpeas.
• The first lesions (symptoms) on chickpea leaves look like black, pin-point tar-spots.

How much to apply

• HEADLINE DUO is conveniently packaged in a 40 acre case.
• You may use two applications each season to protect your chickpea crop.
• Each 6.5L jug of pyraclostrobin must be tank-mixed with the two 2.83Kg jugs of boscalid to treat 40 acres.

Water Volume

• Apply HEADLINE DUO with a minimum 10 imperial gallons of water per acre (110L/ha) by ground or 4.45 imperial gallons of water per acre (50L/ha) by air.

Research Information – Increasing water volume will improve control, especially with later applications where there are heavy crop canopies.
