BANVEL II

For improved pre-seeding and in-crop broadleaf weed control, shift into high gear with BANVEL® II herbicide.

  • Provides improved pre-seeding and in-crop broadleaf weed control.
  • It sets a new standard of performance for control of the toughest broadleaf weeds in cereals.
  • An excellent option in corn.

How it works

Pre-seeding

  • BANVEL II can be tank-mixed with Roundup and used as a pre-seeding burndown for improved control of wild buckwheat and other hard-to-kill broadleaf weeds.
  • This combination provides a more consistent burndown of broadleaf weeds than Roundup alone at 0.5 L/ac.
  • And, it's safe to plant cereal crops soon after application.

In-crop application

  • Tank-mixing BANVEL II with 2,4-D or MCPA amine provides excellent in-crop control of hard-to-kill weeds like wild buckwheat, kochia and Canada thistle.
  • It is safe on wheat (durum, winter, spring), barley, oats, spring rye, canary seed and seedling grasses.
  • BANVEL II is a valuable tool for weed resistance management.

When to apply

CropCrop Stage
Spring wheat, Durum wheat2-5 leaf stage
Barley2-5 leaf stage
Winter wheat (spring application only)Apply when crop is 15-25 cm high or before the shot blade stage
Oats2-5 leaf stage
Spring rye2-3 leaf stage
Seedling grasses2-4 leaf stage
Canary seed3-5 leaf stage

How much to apply

BANVEL II Pre-seeding Application Rates
BANVEL II79 acres/jug (125 mL/acre)
Roundup26 acres/jug (375 mL/acre)
Non-ionic surfactant0.5% (0.5 L/100L water)
Water Volume5-10 gal/acre

Application should be made 0 to 3 days prior to seeding. The interval between application and seeding should be short because Roundup has no residual control.

*All amines are 500 g/L formulation. **Use the higher rate when treating more mature weeds or dense vegetative growth. Do not apply BANVEL II tank-mixes if the crop is underseeded to legumes.
Other tank-mixes such as Ally, MCPA-K, Sencor and Lexone are available. See label for details.

Mixing Instructions

  1. Use a 50 mesh filter screen.
  2. Fill tank with one-half of the required amount of clean water and agitate. Agitation should be running during the entire mixing procedure.
  3. Add the BANVEL II.
  4. If tank-mixing with 2,4-D or MCPA, add the appropriate tank-mix partner now. 5. Add the rest of the water to the spray tank and maintain sufficient agitation during mixing and spraying to ensure a uniform spray mixture.

Application tips

  • Grazing restrictions for dairy cattle depend on the rate of BANVEL II used:

    RateGrazing restrictions
    <=1.25 L/ha (0.5 L/ac)0 days
    1.25 L/ha-2.3 L/ha (0.5-0.9 L/ac)7 days
    2.3 L/ha-4.6 L/ha (0.9-1.8 L/ac)14 days
    4.6 - 7.1 L/ha (1.8-2.8 L/ac)30 days

  • The optimal time to apply BANVEL II on dandelions is early spring or after harvest when the dandelion is in the rosette stage and actively growing.
  • BANVEL II is not registered for use on flax.
  • For best results, BANVEL II should be applied less than 4 hours before a rainfall.
